Event name: The Voyagers Scholarship Fall Summit 2022
Dates: November 18, 2022
An increasingly globalized world needs young leaders who can bridge divides and help solve our biggest challenges together.
The Obamas and Brian Chesky (Airbnb Co-founder and CEO) created The Voyager Scholarship to help shape such leaders. The program gives college students financial aid to alleviate the burden of college debt, meaningful travel experiences to expand their horizons, and a network of mentors to support them.
The Voyagers Scholarship Fall Summit continues this invaluable work in person. Students are invited to a gathering each November to help define and inspire their public service journey. This year’s event was held at the illustrious Columbia University in New York City.
From the word “go” the Fall Summit was all about creating a customized experience for each attendee. In fact, Airbnb commissioned a personal illustration of each attendee before the event, which was then used on all kinds of fun swag, like bookmarks, pins, journals, and more!
As one would imagine, working with the security teams from the Obama and Chesky camps was highly orchestrated. Health and safety issues were also a top priority.
Throughout the one-day event, attendees were treated to a handful of influential speakers, including Mr. Obama himself. Networking and storyboarding their upcoming missions were big as well.
Eventually, students will join the Obama Foundation global community, which promises to provide further Foundation resources and programming.
Seeing the great work being done by this group and the creativity infused in this annual event, we’re already looking forward to the fall of 2023!
